How to save time getting ready!

Between the cold and dark mornings and the time change with daylight savings, the thought of picking out a bomb outfit can be a bit daunting. I don’t know about y’all, but these cold Texas mornings are having me stay in bed a lot longer than usual. Because I’m staying in bed longer, it’s leaving me with less time to pick out an outfit or to even get ready. If you’re struggling like me, here are my top three tips that have been saving me time in the morning.

The first tip may seem like a lot of work at first but once done, it’s easy to keep up with it then after and that is organizing your wardrobe. Something I go over with all of my clients when it comes to organizing your closet to do what practically makes sense for you and your lifestyle. For some, the done-up Pinterest aesthetic style of organization may work best. And for others, myself included, grouping solely by category of the garment may be better. Once your closet is organized you’ll know where everything is and what clothes you have, making it easier to plan out an outfit.

Secondly, when it comes to saving time in the morning, it begins the night before. I strongly suggest picking out your outfit the night before. Not only does this save you the trouble of trying on a million and one outfits at 8 am, but it also allows for a smoother get-ready process. If you want to make sure your morning goes smoothly, after you pick out your outfit the night before, try it on. This will help with making sure it looks like how you’ve planned it in your head. I know we’ve all been there before where we plan an outfit and once we have it on, it’s nothing as we envisioned. Let's save that headache and try on the outfit the night before.

Lastly, I learned this tip a few years ago, and y’all! This has saved me so many times from going down the rabbit hole of insecurity when clothes aren’t looking or fitting the way I need them to. Figure out four or five go-to looks that work for any occasion and have them as a backup when you “can’t find anything to wear”. I have one go-to upscale look, 2 casual-chic looks, and 2 professional looks. These are my through-and-through go-to outfits that I know no matter what I’m doing, I look good when I’m in a pinch.

Regardless if you use one or all three, these tips have proven over the years to not only save me time in the morning but also save my peace of mind. I don’t know about y’all but if I can start my morning off calm the remainder of my day tends to be on the positive side. I hope these tips help your morning run as smoothly as mine and if you need some extra help with your personal style you can always take our Style Quiz to learn where to start in learning your personal style!
